Words from the Innkeeper

Harbour House is a wonderful blend of intimacy, quality, personality, professionalism, sensuous comfort and attention to every detail. Harbour House is located on a quiet side street, overlooking the Niagara River, within easy walking distance of the Shaw Festival, many intriguing shops and more than a dozen fine restaurants. With a design reminiscent of maritime life in the 1880s, Harbour House captures the flavour of historic Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Dining Harbour House
Dining at Harbour HousePlease note: Although Harbour House is happy to arrange catered meals for specific functions, regular meal service is limited to a great breakfast.

Harbour House features a classic complimentary continental BREAKFAST—available in our Library—featuring a cornucopia of fresh fruit from Niagara, fresh juices, a variety of bakery delights and other sweet and savoury treats inspired by our renowned local culinary traditions. Our coffee is so good, you'll want to take a pound home. Throughout the day a variety of beverages and temptations are available in our relaxing public spaces.

Our guests find LUNCH in dozens of interesting ways…a relaxing picnic along the Niagara Parkway watching the lazy river sweep by; or amongst the rows of vines in a nearby vineyard; or listening to cool jazz at a winery restaurant; or amid the hustle and bustle of the shops and pubs of Queen Street.

DINNER provides another exciting opportunity to explore the town's numerous and varied restaurants. Our staff will help you search for, and reserve, dinner at just the right local restaurant to satisfy your palette and schedule. Rest assured, you could stay with us for weeks and never go to the same fine restaurant twice.

Recreation Harbour House
The first capital of Upper Canada, Niagara-on-the-Lake has, in recent years, become  known as home of the Shaw Festival, an internationally acclaimed producer of the works of George Bernard Shaw and his contemporaries. If golf is your game, Niagara-on-the-Lake offers the oldest golf course in Canada (golfers actually play in the shadow of Fort Mississauga, one of North America's earliest battlements), not to mention some 20 world-class courses within a short drive.

From the front door of Harbour House, cyclists can set off on the picturesque off-road Niagara Parkway trail that will take the energetic rider through Niagara Falls, all the way to Fort Erie. Wine and culinary aficionados will want to spend days touring the vineyards, wineries and restaurants, by bike, car or group tour. And when all the energetic activities are exhausted, take a quiet amble down dozens of tree-lined streets, past the carefully restored homes and businesses of Canada's founders.
