The Devonshire, Inn on the Lake – a house with history in
a secret garden setting. Once the Wellington Foundry, today
the Devonshire offers seven charming guest rooms, elegant
dining and a breathtaking waterfront location, all nestled
in the village of Wellington, Prince Edward County.
Explore the inn’s two acres of park-like grounds and
you’ll find a pebbly beach, a trout stream, and a waterfall.
Once you’re inside, browse the eclectic library, relax by
the fire, or watch the sun set while enjoying a cocktail
at the copper topped bar. In your room, down duvets and
luxury linens await. All rooms have queen or king beds,
some with air jet Jacuzzis and sitting areas.
"The County", as it's known by locals, is one of the
best kept travel secrets in Ontario. An historic Loyalist
settlement, Prince Edward County is known as a new wine
grape growing area, for its great beaches at Sandbanks Provincial
Park, wonderful food, antiques and galleries galore, bird
watching sites, scuba diving locations and world-class fishing.

Rooms at the Devonshire feature original artwork, eclectic
antiques, soothing colours and luxury linens. The Sandbanks
Suite on the third floor has a tree top feeling with skylights,
a stunning view of the lake from the bathroom, and two separate
bedrooms - one with a queen and a sitting area, the other
with two twins. Three elegant rooms in the original part
of the inn feature old world architectural details, high
ceilings, and garden views. Two rooms on the main floor
(west side of the inn), face a creek that runs all year.
Ducks, spawning fish, hummingbirds and herons are all frequent
visitors to Lane Creek. The romantic Waterfall Room with
it’s private balcony, looks over a waterfall carved deep
into the limestone. All rooms have queen or king beds, bath
and shower possibilities and air-conditioning. Three rooms
have air jet spa tubs. If you visit on a windy day when
the waves are crashing, make sure leave your window open
and you’ll be rocked to sleep by a sound as ancient as the
world. The library and parlour are perfect common areas
for relaxing. You’ll find a TV, guest phone, a fireplace,
lots reading material and board games.

Enjoy the farm fresh market menu while overlooking one of
Lake Ontario’s best views. In the summer, dine on the 30
seat patio a stone’s throw from the water. In the winter,
you’re cozy in the dining room while taking in the panoramic
view of the lake and creek.
A popular stop on Prince Edward County’s
Taste Trail, the Devonshire Inn gives top billing to seasonal,
organic fare from neighbouring farms, as well as a varied
selection of Prince Edward County wines available by the
bottle and by the glass.
A full country breakfast served buffet style is included
in the room rate. Private dining can be arranged for groups
between 10 and 45 people. Our kitchen is nut free and can
respond to special requests to accommodate guests with food
allergies.
