Guest accommodations at the Wakefield Mill Inn are distinctive-from
rooms with exposed rock walls to suites within a renovated
grain silo-and are perfect for that romantic getaway. Some
rooms overlook the plunging waterfall of the La Pêche River,
while other rooms overlook Gatineau Park. Some rooms are
wheelchair accessible and all rooms are serviced by an elevator
(except for the loft rooms). All rooms have satellite television,
air-conditioning, separate phone/modem lines, queen or king
beds and four-piece bathrooms. The inn's public areas are
decorated with scenes from the rich history of the Outaouais
region and the Gatineau Hills. In addition to sitting areas
within the guest rooms, the inn has a relaxing piano lounge
overlooking the falls. Here, guests read, listen to live
piano music on weekends, and enjoy service from the gleaming,
hand-crafted cherrywood bar.

Guests dine in the 60-seat Penstock Dining Room, where much
attention and effort is focused on meeting and surpassing
dining expectations. The Wakefield Mill Inn has already
earned a wide reputation in the Ottawa area for excellent
cuisine. Our premier dining room is embraced by one-metre-thick
stone walls and warmed by a large, open-hearth fireplace.
Wakefield Mill dining emphasize fine French and Quebecois
cuisine, flavoured with international nuances. The wine
selection focuses on hard-to-find fine wines from smaller
vineyards in France and other countries. Desserts include
traditional treats as well as new approaches to mouth watering
sweets. The culinary team is particularly proud of a varied
and particular selection of cheeses.

Step outside the inn's front door to spectacularly scenic Gatineau Park: 30,000 acres of unspoiled forest, lakes and rivers. By foot, bicycle, canoe or by ski, discover park wildlife, secluded beaches, caves, quiet trails or canoe routes: 250 kilometres of trails beg to be explored. From May 'til October, take a journey back in time. An historic
turn-of-the-century steam train regularly travels from Hull to
Wakefield and takes guests on a 90-minute ride along the
breathtaking bends of the Gatineau River. Local villages such as
Wakefield and Chelsea are well known for good shopping, art
galleries and antique shops.
The Wakefield Mill Inn is just 25 minutes from downtown Ottawa,
the Parliament Buildings, National Gallery and National Arts
Centre; Casino Lac Leamy is also close by.
From Ottawa: Take Highway 5 and follow the signs for Maniwaki. After about 20 minutes, Highway 5 comes to an end at a stop sign. Turn right and then make an immediate left at the traffic lights onto Highway 105 North. After about 8 kilometres, you'll veer to the right at the Wakefield turnoff. At the bottom of the hill, turn left onto Riverside Drive. Turn left onto Mill Road and you will quickly see the Wakefield Mill.
